Angel's Envy Kentucky Straight Bourbon

I recently enjoyed wonderful times with the Henderson family in NYC at Whiskyfest and simply fell in love with the all-new Angel’s Envy Bourbon. Wes and his son Kyle joined us for our charity event at LAVO and let us imbibe in this velvety, port-finished, four year-old bourbon. At 86.6 proof, this gal delivers a seductively unique mouthfeel and taste profile I simply haven’t come across before. There are distinct notes of fruit, nut and caramel rounded out by a wonderful creaminess. Although I prefer most of my bourbons naked, this whiskey has so much going on that it can easily stand out in a well-balanced cocktail.

The prowess of Master Distiller Lincoln Henderson shines in this new release. Hell, it brought him out of retirement! After spending four decades at Brown Forman and the master mind behind the heralded Woodford Reserve, Lincoln has taken his talents to a new level and truly developed a whiskey winner here. The package is fantastic and definitely an eye-catcher on any back bar. Coming in at roughly $50 retail for a 750ml, this is going to be a staple for me in my repertoire. Be sure to check out their site at www.angelsenvy.com and keep your eyes peeled for this at your favorite dramming spot or liquor store.

Zenyatta Retired to Lane's End

The gal who is perhaps the female horse of all-time has been gracefully retired to live out her legendary days in American whiskey region at Lane's End in Versailles, Kentucky. Sporting an unprecedented 19-1 record, Zenyatta will go down in the history books as the first and only female to ever win the Breeder's Cup Classic, win so against her male counterparts, and endure her only loss by a nose after a breathtaking off-the-pace surge to what appeared to be a sure victory in back to back BC Classics.

The love affair with Zenyatta remains strong and this proud lady will show off her characteristic dance moves and prances at her very own parade at Hollywod Park on Dec. 5th. Although breeding plans have not yet materialized, once can just imagine what athletic genius will be bred from this mare. Boasting one of the highest statures ever at 17.1 hands (Secretariat was 16.2), Zenyatta is sure to produce absolute monsters. Her rival Rachel Aexandra is slated to be bred with powerhouse Curlin. Let's see who the suitors are in line to buy this hot mama a drink (her fave is a bowl of Guinness). Happy retirement lady! You've clearly earned it.:)
